Use our café as a base for your walks! All dogs are welcome but please keep them on a lead whilst on the farm and be mindful of the horses. Clean dogs are welcome in the café (please don’t use our showers to clean dogs as the drains get blocked)

 

 

If you’re looking for some walks under 5km here are our suggestions:

Walk to urchins kitchen. This is our personal favourite out of all the walks! the trail starts and ends in our carpark leading you through the enchanting primrose woods and passing around Urchins Kitchen Gorge,  This walk takes roughly 1hr (3.3km) and is suitable for dogs!

 

Small primrose wood loop. This walk takes around 30 minutes (1.91km) to complete and is a brilliant short circuit to do with dogs as there’s no busy roads to cross, starting and finishing from our carpark and trailing through our very own Primrose Woods.

 

Mid Length Primrose Wood Loop. This walk takes roughly 50 minutes (2.99km) and is also dog friendly. Like the smaller loop it starts and finishes in our carpark and leads a trail right through the heart of Primrose Woods.

 

If you’re looking for some walks under 10km here are our suggestions:

Walk to Little Switzerland This walk takes around 1hour 50mins (6.12km) and it’s a lovely walk bringing you through Primrose Woods and past Urchins Kitchen and then leading you to a village between Kelsall and Willington known as Little Switzerland .This walk is dog friendly, the majority of this trail is through our woodland however there are some country lanes to walk down where you might meet some cars!

 

Big Primrose Wood Loop. This walk takes around 2hrs (6.72km) starts and finishes in our carpark and leads you through the entirety of Primrose Woods and past Urchins Kitchen a beautiful gorge formed in the Ice age. This walk is dog friendly and stays in our woodland for the entirety of the circuit.

 

Walk to Pale heights.  this walk takes roughly 2hours (7.08km). Another circuit walk starting and ending in our carpark this trail brings you up to Pale Heights . This walk crosses the main road 3 times so make sure all walkers and especially those with nervous dogs take great care when crossing!

 

Walk to Eddisbury Hill Fort. this walk takes roughly 2hrs 15mins (8.18km). This walk crosses the main road 3 times and the trail leads alongside the road (on a footpath) so it’s not recommended for nervous dogs nonetheless it is a gorgeous walk that brings you to an Iron Age hill fort, full of history and beautiful views this trail is well worth a visit!

 

Nettleford Wood Loop.  This trail takes roughly 2hr20min (8.19km) and brings you through Nettleford woods. This trail starts and ends in our carpark however it is also directly across the road from Grestys Waste carpark so it’s also an option to start from there! This trail follows part of the sandstone trail and passes close to Delamere woods. This walk is Dog friendly however there is a main road to cross!

 

If you’re looking for some walks over 10km here are our suggestions:

Blakemere Moss Lake Loop This trail takes roughly 3hr20min (11.84km). This walk is our longest suggested route, starting and finishing in our carpark this circuit passes through; Primrose Wood, Grestys Waste carpark, Nettleford wood (very close to Pale Heights), Delamere Forest, and of course all the way around the Blakemere Moss Lake. This walk is dog friendly however there are a few roads to cross which may not be ideal for walkers with nervous dogs!

The Sandstone Trail  actually passes through our farmland click here to see the best route from the trail to the café. Please be make sure to stick to the recommended route as the Gallops are located nearby and the horses can be spooked easily!
